The Technics SL-1210MK7 direct-drive turntable features proven Technics quality. The 7th generation delivers better sound than ever. Optionally available as a special offer, it includes the Ortofon Concorde Digitrack (set consisting of a cartridge and a spare stylus in an aluminum case).
We are an authorized Technics dealer! The SL-1210MK7 is an original unit for the German market and comes with a 2-year Technics warranty.
A direct-drive turntable uses a slow-rotating motor that is directly connected to the turntable and transmits its motion directly to it. This offers numerous advantages: The device achieves impressive rotational precision, extremely powerful drive torque, high reliability over its entire service life, and is maintenance-free. For a long time, direct drive motors were criticized for small irregularities in rotation due to the so-called cogging torque. For the new SL-1210MK7, a new direct-drive motor was developed that uses an iron-coreless stator, thus completely eliminating the cause of cogging torque. At the same time, the drive force of the rotor magnets in the SL-1210MK7 reaches its optimum. The gap between the iron-coreless stator and the rotor magnets has been improved to resemble the torque of the earlier SL-1200MK5 model. The smooth rotation behavior and powerful drive torque enable precise and faithful sound quality on all records.
The tonearm, which reads the musical information contained in the record groove, is a statically balanced S-shaped construction – typical of Technics models. The tonearm tube is made of lightweight, high-strength aluminum, while the bearing section of the gimbal features a milled housing and high-precision bearing elements. This ensures excellent tracking with minimal unwanted needle movement, even under harsh conditions such as scratching. The SL-1210MK7’s turntable platter features a two-layer construction. Vibration-absorbing rubber covers the entire underside of the platter, which is made from an injection-molded aluminum. This composite construction prevents unwanted resonances and offers high stability with superior vibration damping, supporting the record from harmful vibrations. The result is undisturbed, authentic sound.
The chassis of the SL-1210MK7 consists of a very stable, extremely low-vibration housing. The die-cast aluminum chassis is firmly attached to a glass-fiber-reinforced ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer) plastic construction. The resulting two-layer construction offers the highest level of rigidity and vibration damping, guaranteeing faithful, dynamic sound reproduction. The damping feet, made of a spring-rubber construction, ensure optimal damping. The high vertical damping is offset by very rigid behavior in horizontal movement. This combination ensures uncomplicated handling, especially when scratching, and excellent noise immunity – even at very high sound levels.
The SL-1210MK7’s power and phono cables are detachable, allowing for quick replacement in the event of a fault. The gold-plated phono jacks ensure the best sound quality and contact properties. The SL-1210MK7 impresses with innovative motor control technologies, which have been used and perfected primarily in the latest generation of Blu-ray players. Thanks to a microcomputer, the controller easily handles both normal playback and more demanding DJ applications, such as scratching. Furthermore, the user can adjust the starting torque and braking speed to their individual preferences.
The rotation speed of the SL-1210MK7 can be set to 33.5, 45, or 78 rpm.* The pitch adjustment range is ±8%/±16%. This enables highly precise and stable fine-tuning of the speed and perfect matching of, for example, two SL-1210MK7 units in DJ mode. * The use of 78 rpm is activated via the main on/off switch. If the speed button and the start/stop button are pressed simultaneously, the turntable rotates in the opposite direction. The reverse play function is activated via the main on/off switch. This opens up new creative possibilities for the DJ. However, the cartridge system must be designed for scratch operation.
The telescopic needle illumination uses a new push-button mechanism and a bright, long-lasting white LED. The illumination area and intensity have also been adjusted. This ensures better needle visibility compared to previous models – even in very dark environments. The controls and tonearm of the SL-1210MK7 are finished in black. The shape of the controls from previous models has been retained. Combined with the matte texture of the black casing, the turntable exudes a cool, chic look. The LED key backlighting can be individually adjusted to blue or red.
